Dr. Walid Mahmoud Abdelnasser is an Egyptian national married with two kids.

As a career diplomat since 1984, he served as Chief of Cabinet of the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs (2001-2002) then Deputy Chief of Mission at the Egyptian Embassy in Washington DC (2002-2006), and thereafter the Director of the Institute for Diplomatic Studies at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Cairo (2006-2007). He was seconded to the United Nations from 1992 to 1999 as Special Assistant to the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Compensation Commission dealing with the 1990/91 Gulf War reparations.

He received his B.A. and M.A. in Political Science from the American University in Cairo, then received his Ph.D. in Political Science from Geneva University (IUHEI), Switzerland. He also holds a glicense en droith from Cairo University.

He is the author of seventeen books in Arabic, four in English, the contributor to six books in Arabic, English and French and the author of about 300 articles in Arabic, English, French and Japanese covering, inter alia, Middle Eastern and African politics, religion and politics, political economy, international relations, dialogue among civilization and cultural issues.

He also gave tens of interviews to radio and television stations in Egypt, Switzerland, Britain, France, the United States and Japan.

He taught Political Science at the American University in Cairo and lectured in many universities and conferences in Egypt, Switzerland, United Kingdom, France, Japan, Bahrain, Cyprus, Malta, Turkey, Romania and the United States in the fields mentioned above.

He masters Arabic, English, and French languages perfectly, with little knowledge of Spanish.

He served as a member of the Foreign Relations Committee of the National Council for Women in Egypt and of the Political Science Committee at the Egyptian Supreme Council of Culture. He also served as member of the editorial board of gThe Diplomath journal, published monthly in Arabic by the Egyptian Diplomatic Club.

He is a member of the Egyptian Council of Foreign Relations and of the Egyptian Writersf Association, and of the editorial board of gBeyondh Journal, published quarterly by the Association of former Egyptian employees at the United Nations.

He was elected as President of the Student Union at high school level and acting President of the Student Council at university level.

He also chaired the Association of Egyptians in Switzerland (1994-1999) and served as a member of the Association of Egyptians Abroad (1997-1999) and as the editor-in-chief of gShuruqh quarterly published in Arabic, English, French and German in Geneva, Switzerland (1995-1999).
